Water Ingress and Flood Drying Response in Heathcote, NSW

May 14, 20262 min read

Our team attended a residential property in Heathcote following an emergency callout from strata management related to water entering the home during heavy rainfall. The emergency affected the front entry to the home where newly installed hybrid flooring had begun to be exposed to flood waters.

Quick response was important to prevent the moisture from spreading further into the property and to stabilise the affected area.

Water Ingress at Front Door – Flood Damage Heathcote NSW

Incident Overview

During heavy rainfall, stormwater began pooling outside the property due to an overwhelmed catch basin and inadequate drainage near the boundary. As water levels built up, the pooled water flowed toward the front entrance and entered the home through the front door.

The water penetration affected the hybrid flooring at the entry area, with moisture impact concentrated within approximately one metre inside the doorway.

Our Response and Restoration Process

To manage the situation and minimise further water intrusion, immediate mitigation measures were implemented. Sandbags were placed at the front entry to block and redirect incoming water, helping to reduce additional stormwater entering the property.

Our team then carried out moisture readings and thermal imaging to assess the extent of water penetration within the entry area.

The Result

With controlled drying in place and moisture levels stabilised, the affected entry area was successfully managed following the water ingress event.

To prevent potential long-term moisture issues, replacement of the affected flooring in the entry area was recommended. Addressing the drainage issue outside the property was also advised to reduce the risk of future water ingress during heavy rainfall.
